Agnes Kagure: A Daughter of Nyeri
Her roots. Her journey. Her commitment to service. Before Agnes Kagure became known in business and philanthropy, she was a young girl growing up in Nyeri — and Nyeri remains the beginning of her story.
Agnes Kagure
Aspiring Governor, Nyeri County 2027
"Nyeri made me. My ambition now is to serve Nyeri. A New Sunrise in Nyeri."
Understanding the dignity of work
Agnes Kagure’s life journey has not been defined by privilege alone. As a young woman she experienced immense financial difficulties — an experience that exposed her to the demands of earning a living and the importance of perseverance. She learned to approach challenges with discipline, patience, determination, and a willingness to work toward a better future.
She later entered the insurance industry as a junior salesperson. It was an unfamiliar and demanding environment that required confidence, resilience, persistence, and the ability to earn people’s trust. Her subsequent entrepreneurial journey deepened her understanding of enterprise, financial management, customer relationships, and the obstacles facing people trying to build successful livelihoods.
Alongside her business activities, Agnes has been involved in philanthropy and community support. Her interest in service reflects a belief that personal advancement should be accompanied by concern for others. Her stated vision is one in which enterprise, compassion, and responsible governance reinforce one another.
For Agnes, Nyeri is more than her place of origin. It represents the years that helped form her identity. Her ambition to serve is both personal and practical — personal because she wants to contribute to the future of the home that shaped her; practical because she believes the county’s agricultural resources, entrepreneurial capabilities, natural heritage, and human talent can support more inclusive prosperity through effective leadership.
Milestones of Proven Leadership
A continuous trajectory of grassroots mobilization, private enterprise mastery, humanitarian intervention, and visionary devolution advocacy.
Mobilizing Women's Chamas & Rural Table-Banking
Initiated rural financial inclusion seminars for subsistence coffee and tea farmers. Organized early women's chamas into registered self-help groups, securing micro-finance capital and advocating for gravity-fed community water piping across vulnerable ridges.
Enterprise Expansion & Inclusive Economic Architecture
Pioneered customer-centric risk advisory models, shattering top executive sales records in the insurance sector. Mentored a new generation of corporate women managers and channeled corporate social investments into vocational youth apprenticeships and informal market trade support.
Maternal Health Caravans & High School Education Endowments
Established the Agnes Kagure Foundation, sponsoring over 4,500 needy secondary and tertiary scholars, facilitating life-saving medical outreaches across isolated outposts, and distributing start-up capital kits for youth bodaboda riders and mama mbogas.
The People's Charter: Restoring Dignity & Economic Sovereignty
Answering the heartfelt call of Nyeri's citizens across Tetu, Mathira, Othaya, Mukurwe-ini, Kieni, and Nyeri Town. Launching a participatory grassroots manifesto focused on agricultural price protection, transparent procurement, and world-class devolved public amenities.
Guiding Values & Leadership Principles
Leadership is not defined by promises made on the campaign trail, but by indelible convictions that govern every decision, allocation, and public duty.
Integrity & Zero Graft Tolerance
Radical transparency across every county tender, ward development allocation, and procurement pipeline. The wealth of Nyeri belongs exclusively to its people.
Servant Leadership in Practice
Elected officials are facilitators, not royalty. Bi-annual participatory public barazas in all 30 wards will ensure county priorities remain directly guided by wananchi.
Economic Empowerment First
Liberating coffee, tea, dairy, and macadamia farmers from middleman cartels through county-backed processing plants, subsidized soil testing, and guaranteed minimum returns.
Inclusivity & Human Dignity
No grandmother, youth innovator, person living with disability, or informal trader will be marginalized. Targeted social safety nets and accessible public amenities for all.
Healthcare as a Basic Right
Fully equipped, automated dispensary networks within 5km of every homestead. Dignified geriatric oncology care, maternal safety, and constant essential pharmaceutical supplies.
Youth Talent & Digital Future
Converting county polytechnics into high-tech incubation engines. Creating remote digital employment hubs, creative arts grants, and sport development academies in every sub-county.
"My Sole Pledge to the 800,000 People of Nyeri County"
I do not seek public office to occupy a high seat. I seek this mandate to restore the rightful dignity, prosperity, and preeminence of our mother county. Here is my unbreakable commitment:
Highland Wealth Revival: Direct export partnerships that ensure smallholder coffee and tea farmers retain over 85% of global market auction proceeds.
Dignified Healthcare Proximity: Level 4 and Level 5 medical facilities equipped with reliable oxygen plants, functional dialyzers, and medicine stocks that never run dry.
Innovation & Agro-Industrial Zones: Transform Kieni and Nyeri Town corridors into world-class processing parks for dairy, potato, avocado, and horticulture value-chains.

Nyeri Made Me
A personal message from Agnes Kagure. Nyeri is home. It is where I grew up, where I spent my childhood and teenage years, and where the foundations of the woman I am today were laid. Wherever life has taken me, Nyeri has remained my home — and now my thoughts return to the place where my journey began.
I believe Nyeri can achieve more. Our farmers, traders, teachers, health workers, artisans, and public servants sustain this county. Our forests, rivers, and agricultural land provide an extraordinary foundation. The question is whether we are getting enough value from these strengths — for farmers’ earnings, for young people’s skills, for small businesses, for healthcare, for roads, and for the protection of tomorrow’s prosperity.
I want to put my experience to work for home
My journey has taught me lessons about perseverance, enterprise, responsibility, and the dignity of work. Good public institutions, reliable infrastructure, access to markets, quality healthcare, practical skills, and accountable government all matter. Meaningful progress requires a capable team, partnerships, and leadership that listens.
My seven commitments to Nyeri
Greater value for tea and coffee farmers. More profitable small businesses. Reliable clean and productive water. Better county roads. Dignified healthcare with reliable medicines. Protected forests with green livelihoods. Strong early education and practical skills for young people. These commitments form the heart of A New Sunrise in Nyeri.
